REFLECTION TASK 1A

I am a first year student in the department of Foeign langıage Education at METU. It is my second  year at METU.I was in the prep school last year.I would like to join the student group called  İlk-Yar .It's aim is to help regional primary boarding schools as it is understood from it's expansion as the organization of aid for elementary schools.I am not the member of a student group because ı don't see any group fit for me except for İlk-Yar.The reason why ı see this group fit for me is that ı want to be of service to students being in a bad situation.It doesn't matter what kind of contribution you need ,I can give my support for all areas such as books, dresses, joining in trips made to schools.I have an interest in spending time with children .In my high school years , ı underwent training in this type of school for one week.During this period , we had good friendship.I sometimes gave them lesson in funny way.In break times , we even played football.I can establish a good relationship with them as ı could in the past years.When ı see the happiness in the eyes of children with whom ı play football or volleyball and to whom ı give a gift , ı also will be happy and grateful for being in this group.Shortly, ı want to be a member of this group  and do something for the good of students.

INTRODUCTORY TASK

 University life is an important milestone for every student.They start to think about theiir future and the things they want to  do after  having graduated from üniversity.When they decide what they will do after graduation,students start to focus on the field in which  they will engage.This is nearly the same for every student including me.In my highschool years,ı decided to select foreign language department because ı was really interested in foreign languages ,cultures.Then,I started to take English lessons.For four years ,I had watched English tv series,read English books and listened . English songs with their lyrics.They were entertaining and didactic activities for me.After having passed the üniversity exam ,I realized that my point was enough  for studying at METU.I was really happy about that because METU would be a good  place to improve my English skills.I have been at METU for two years.Being a üniversity student at METU means to me being a good linguistic scientist and being a skillful and well-informed English teacher.Being a FLE student at METU is a big privilege for me because METU is one of the best üniversities in Turkey in terms of language.In addition ,it has many oppportunities to improve my speaking skills because there are many foreign students in METU due to the fact that it's an international üniversity.That's why, by communicating with those foreign students ı can improve my speaking .As a FLE student at METU,I h ave some expectations from my department .For example ,I want to reach the advanced level in writing ,reading ,listening.In additıon ,I want to speak fluently in front of people without being depressed or stressful.Ithink ,there will be some challenges ı need to meet at my department .One of them is assignments or exams made on the internet because I am bad at computer.But ,after doing an assignment on the net ,I will get accustomed to these assignments.The other one is being stressful and depressed while speaking English in front of people .I think ı will meet that challenge by doing practice continously.I see myself at METU as a post graduate student.To sum up,METU is a big opportunity for every student in many ways.

REFLECTION TASK 3

If ı were a jury member of the committee chosing the person of the year, ı would take into comsideration some characteristics suach as helpfulness , successfulness, making progress in his /her business, and unselfishness before deciding who should be the person of the year.Since being the person of the year is a privilege , the person who will have this privilege should have some distinctive features like ones ı have said above.For example , my candidate would be a person who likes helping to people being poor and being in a bad situation.To give an example, Vehbi Koc is a suitable person for being chosen as the person of the year bacause he is such a helpful person that he gives scholarships to many students and he is the founder of Vehbi Koc Charitable Foundation which carrieis out various social aid activities.The other characteristic is to make progress in his /her business in a short span of time.The person who makes progress ina short time is also successful because it is a success to develop in his/her job.For example , the person starting at the bottom of the ladder , aiming for being the best in his/her field of business , and working hardly for this purpose deserves credit. Moreover, my candidate would be unselfish .He should do something not only for himself but also for other people.Shortly, my candidate should be best in many areas in order to be chosen as the person of the year .

REFLECTION TASK 2B

I want to write about an advertisement on tv which is called as "Ülker Mutluluk Reklamı" because it is really entertaining and the happiness is shown in the advertisement successfully.In this advertisement , many children, men, and women have different ways of being happy.While some of them become happy by eating chocolate , the others are happy when they have a dinner with their beloved ones.In addition to the examples ı have given , there are also many ways to be happy in the advertisement such as travelling by boat , going shopping, looking at his/her lover , and caring about his/her baby.I think that the producer of this advertisement tries to make people buy and eat the products of the brand of "Ülker".He does it by emphasizing the happiness affect of the product and by giving examples for the ways of happiness.He also wants to tell that people shouldn't seek for happiness in so significant things and they can be happy with small things and by doing something for which they get a craving.I am of the opinion that as long as we want to enjoy our lives and be happy ,we can always find a way for it.This advertisement is important for society since it can be make people think about their lives and start to seek for ways of being happy and living  a good life.Shortly, this advertisement can be guide for people in living more happily.

FREE REFLECTION

I have decided to write about "my dream job and hause " because ı like dreaming about my job and my hause in which ı want to live.I want to start with my dream job.Since ı was a student in elementary school , ı have been imagining of being a teacher in university .Because of my wish, ı choose foreign language department in high school.I had much interest in listening to English songs , learning new vocabulary by looking at dictionary , watching movies and tv series with English subtitles in my high school years as ı have now.For this reason , ı came to METU in order to improve my skills such as listening, speaking, and writing.After my university education, ı want to stay in METU  as a postgraduate student because METU is one of the best universities in the branch of foreign langıages..I dream of  working in a university which is near my hometown and universities in İzmir are among my preferences .Ilike teaching  a topic or a lesson at which ı am good to other students and people .I wish that ı have a contribution to to students in English.To mention about my dream hause , in my mind there is always an image of a hause which is large enough , light- well ,and well-decorated.I want to decorate my hause on my own according to my own pleasure.Shortly, ı want to have a hause in which ı feel myself comfortable .When ı go into my hause ,ı should feel myself happy and peaceful.

REFLECTION TASK 2A

I want to chose "Online Communication Tools " for this reflection task because it is atopic which affects our society considerably nowadays.Online Communication Tools have so profound affects that almost everybody uses these tools such as nmobile phone, computer ,and mail adresses.They are very important for us .Thanks to them ,we can easily communicate with our teachers , friends ,and parents.For example,by using mobile phones, people  who live or study in a city or country which is far away from their hometowns can talk to their parents, chat with their relatives .Moreover,with mail adresses we can contact with our teachers.When we have a topic which we haven't understood , we can send an e mail to our teachers and learn this topic exactly.On the other hand, some people think that Online Communication Tools affect our society negatively.According to them, they restrain people from visiting their friends , relatives, and parents and talking face to face with them.Since we  have accustomed to use mobile phones or computers in order to communicate with each other ,we don't think visiting them necessary.I am of the opinion that as long as Online Communication Tools are used effectively and the time spared for using these tools is arranged correctly , they are an opportunity for us.Turning these tools to advantage is in our power.
